PCYC NEWCASTLE CHESS
Whether you’re new to the world of chess or you’ve been playing for years, it’s always smart to brush up on your skills and take on new opponents. With chess groups and classes at PCYC NSW, you can meet fellow chess players and discover something new, or spend time playing the game that you already love.
Dating back more than 1,500 years, chess is a fascinating game that requires a patient and strategic mindset. As you compete against others in the group, you will get an insight into how their mind works in regards to the game, all while trying your best to conceal your next move.
At PCYC NSW, you can gather with fellow fans of chess and put your skills to the test. Even if you don’t win, you’ll still be able to get together with like-minded people and even make new friends. We offer both social and competitive play, so you’ll be able to find something that suits your style.
Chess players of all age groups and levels are invited to join chess classes at PCYC -- even if you’ve never played before. Our professional instructors can teach you the basic rules of the game, before encouraging you to gain first-hand playing experience with a classmate. n
PCYC NSW runs more than 65 centres and clubs across the state, providing a gathering place for community members to get together and keep their minds and bodies active.
Started in 1937, our mission is to empower young people to reach their potential through youth development programs and activities.
